Weekly Digest

November 8, 2018

Conversion rates – In some ways if you are selling something online it is all that matters. It does not matter whether we are selling a product, a service, or seeking new leads. If we have a website, we want a large percentage of visitors to take the action we most desire.

At IronPlane we want visitors to book an appointment or give a call. Minimally we want a micro conversion (sign up for the digest, take part in a survey or giveaway).  With a micro conversion, we can at least begin to build a real relationship. For the majority of our clients they want someone to find a product, add it to the cart and checkout.

For the next month or two we will focus at least once a week on this topic.

Do one thing in this next week to start boosting those conversions and send me a note about what you did!

Community Spotlight

If you are a listener of podcasts you may be familiar with MageTalk.  MageTalk is a podcast hosted by Kalen Jordan and Phillip Jackson, two developers who are experts in Magento and enthusiastically share their experiences with their listeners.

When our team traveled to Magento Live Europe (MLEU), MageTalk was there and our very own Project Administrator, Donna Hawkins, got to meet Phillip.  As a regular listener to the podcast, she was very excited about the experience and was even more excited to hear them give her a “shout out” on their October 24th show.  The pair were talking about attracting more women listeners and the hosts mentioned how much they had enjoyed meeting Donna and hearing about how much she learned from the show.  We are happy, but  not surprised, that Donna made such an impression on the hosts! She is very knowledgeable and fun to talk to and we are lucky to have her at IronPlane.

MageTalk is a great resource for those in the industry as well as those curious about how Magento can help their business.  We highly recommend giving it a listen.

Did You Know?

Vocabulary Review

Conversion Rate: A conversion rate is an equation used to compare the total number of visitors coming to a website to the number that take a specific action (e.g. become paying customers, subscribers or users).

Stat of the Week

According to Statista, the average conversion rate of all online shoppers worldwide in Q2 of this year was 2.86%.  While this figure is interesting, there are many other factors that determine the health of your business.  Visit our website for our blog post with a more in-depth way to determine what your conversion rates mean for your business and what you can do to boost those figures.

Get  Your Brain Working

Riddle of the Week

A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, “If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50.” The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he’ll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

If you think you know the answer be sure to enter our giveaway above.  The right answer will earn you an extra entry! Next week we will share the answer along with a new riddle.

Last Week’s Answer: Did you guess the answer to our riddle from last week?  If you guessed the river was frozen, you are correct!
