Focus Camera is a family-owned business running since 1966, with two retail locations, hundreds of employees, and millions of online customers. Their site ran on a custom, unwieldy headless frontend that caused ongoing issues, and they wanted to move fast to a more standardized, secure solution β a frontend built on Magento that leverages the rich functionality and modularity of Adobe Commerce.

Challenges
β
Rebuilding a live store at this scale meant solving several problems at once. We had to align new infrastructure with existing workflows and integrations β migrating data while keeping operations running and avoiding conflicts. We needed to preserve SEO value through the rebuild: redirecting existing URLs, protecting search rankings, and ensuring clean indexing after a change of address. We also cleared out redundant migration remnants left over from the Magento 1 β 2 move and the old frontend β outdated code and incompatible configurations that added complexity. Finally, with the Focus Camera team deeply involved across different time zones, close coordination was essential to keep the project on track.

Solutions
β
We rebuilt the store on Adobe Commerce, giving Focus Camera advanced product management, flexible pricing, and the scalability to handle large catalogs and high transaction volumes without losing performance at peak. The foundation was Snowdog Iskra β our HyvΓ€-based solution combining HyvΓ€ Theme, HyvΓ€ Checkout, and fully vetted third-party modules β which was central to hitting the targets for quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
On top of that, we layered the tools that shape the customer experience: Snowdog's Magento 2 Menu for advanced, SEO-friendly navigation beyond the default category menu; OpenSearch with ElasticSuite for fast, scalable search with faceted filtering, autocomplete, and typo tolerance; and Adobe Commerce Page Builder so the team can create and organize content across devices without technical overhead. For deployment, we set up an automated AWS pipeline(GitHub, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy) for consistent, reliable releases.
